Worth the Drive

My wife and I were having dinner the other night at the Bonaparte Retreat. Afterwords we walked across the street to take a peak at the newly renovated old glove factory.

You need to come to Bonaparte. Have dinner at the Retreat and then go check out that old glove factory, which is now the Bonaparte Inn.

We think you'll like it.

Christmas in the Villages

If you have not been to Van Buren County, IA lately I want to encourage you to come for a visit.

Christmas in the villages will be held Dec-2/3 this year. Our kids just love the festival of trees in the village of Keosauqua. They think you'll like it too.

Susan and I and our 3 daughters have made our home in Van Buren County for the past 7 years.

OK, so it's not exactly SE Iowa...

But the city of Kirksville, MO is a nice drive. I usually take HWY 63 South from Bloomfield, IA. It's aproximately 40 miles to Kirksville from Bloomfield.

I had the pleasure of working in Kirksville, MO yesterday and today. The city is bustling with energy & commerce, the folks are friendly and you can choose from a variety of eateries.

Sales were excellent on Monday so I decided to pull an overnighter and stay in town. I choose the Travelers Square Hotel.  Travelers Square is located downtown, nestled among a variety of restaurants, nightclubs, shops and entertainment venues.

I enjoyed my stay at Travelers and one of the best parts... a made to order hot breakfast at no extra charge.

On my way back  I stopped by Western's Smokehouse. If you like down home people, a quality product and great customer attention you need to check out Western's. They are located right off highway 63 in Greentop, MO.

The Wooden Pig

About a month ago one of my customers; The City of Donnellson told me about a new restaurant in town. They told me I just had to try it. So I did, in fact I met the 2 ladies from the city for lunch.

The Wooden Pig serves up THE best Barbeque & Ice Cream in the state. Don't expect to see much on their website. I have put it here just so you can get there address and phone number.

The owners of this fine establishment are from North Carolina and they know how to serve their customers. You will not be disappointed. I highly reccommend the apple walnut salad with lemon poppy seed dressing. You'll want to top it off with pulled chicken. mmmmmmm good.
