Susan and I have had our own 800 for more than ten years now. The number rings in our private line and I use it frequently when I'm travelling out of state. At 4.6 cents a minute I think it's a bargin.
Sometimes it's much handier than using my cell phone, it's cheaper too and the reception is perfect. Like when I'm in an airport or hotel room and want to talk with our 3 little girls before bedtime.
To see if you can get your own toll-free number just call your long-distance provider. They should be able to present you with serveral options. If they can't tell them you will be switching carriers. Here is the carrier that Sue and I use.
And no, I don't have my dog in this fight. In other words I'm not making a dime off recommending them.
